IZANAMI:USERS(ITACHI)
Izanami is one of the ultimate dōjutsu of the Uchiha clan. It is a genjutsu which affects the target through physical sensations shared between them and the user. Like its counterpart, in exchange for the temporary ability that it grants the user, the Sharingan
with which Izanami is cast is rendered blind and loses its light
forever. According to Itachi, this technique and Izanagi form a pair,
but unlike the latter, which is a technique capable of altering destiny,
Izanami is instead one that "decides" it.
To begin the technique, after selecting any arbitrary moment, the
caster uses their Sharingan to remember the physical sensations both of
their body and that of their opponent's during that instant like a
photograph (represented as: A). The user must then intentionally
replicate the same sensation and in the same way, memorise that instant
with their Sharingan (represented as: A'). Izanami overlaps and connects
these two identical bodily sensations (A and A'), as well as the flow
of time between them, creating an infinite loop of events that entraps
the opponent's consciousness.
Whilst under the effects of the technique, the target stands
motionlessly as the loop of events continually replays inside their
mind.
Each time a loop is repeated, any physical damage incurred is reset as
it were before the start of the loop, although the remains of severed
appendages do not disappear.Despite being able to become consciously aware of their situation and
act differently, the victim is unable to significantly alter or escape
from the inevitable progression of these events. However, because this
technique was created to reprimand and save the users of Izanagi, the
victim is able to escape the infinite loop if they can acknowledge the
real results of their actions and in doing so, accept their fate.According to Itachi, there was a point in time where members of the clan
abused the abilities granted by Izanagi, instead simply casting the
technique as a means of escaping the undesirable results of their
actions. Whilst this resulted in little issue if only one person were
using Izanagi, if there were two or more casters, they would begin to
fight amongst each other over personally favourable outcomes. Thus, as
dōjutsu users were unlikely to succumb to ocular genjutsu, Izanami was
created as a method to reprimand such clansmen, as well as save them
from their own arrogance. By imprisoning them within an unalterable loop
of events, the victim was forced to accept the reality they had created
if they ever wished to escape the illusion. However, because of the
dangers involved in using a technique with a way out in a real battle,
Izanami became classed as a kinjutsu.
IZANAGI:USERS(RIKUDOU,DANZO,MADARA,OBITO)
Izanagi is a genjutsu that is cast on the user instead of others and is the most powerful amongst this type of genjutsu. When activated, the caster removes the boundaries between reality and
illusion within their personal space. To a degree this allows the user
to control their own state of existence, but it is normally only active for the briefest of moments.
While the user remains physically real while fighting, this
technique is capable of turning any occurrence including injuries and
even death inflicted upon themselves while the technique is active into
mere "illusions". Whenever the user receives a fatal injury, he or she
automatically fades away as though they were an illusion all along and
then returns back to reality; physically real and unscathed. The
technique is based on an ability the Sage of the Six Paths had, referred to as "Creation of All Things" ( Banbutsu Sōzō).
The process he used is explained to have initially involved the
administration of imagination, and the spiritual energy which forms the
basis of Yin
chakra to create shape and form from nothingness. Then, through the
application of vitality, and the physical energy which forms the basis
of Yang
chakra, he would breathe life into the prior form. Thus, a technique
with the power to turn imagination into reality was born, known as
Izanagi.
Izanagi can only be used by those with the genetic traits of the Sage of the Six Paths. The Uchiha, descended from the Sage, are able to perform Izanagi with their Sharingan.
In exchange for the brief control of reality that it allows them, the
Sharingan with which Izanagi is cast becomes blind. For this reason the
Uchiha labelled it a kinjutsu. Danzō Shimura, in an effort to make practical use of the technique, had ten Sharingan embedded into his right arm.
To make full use of Izanagi, users must also have the genetic traits of the Senju, who are also descended from the Sage. Partially for this reason Danzō had some of Hashirama Senju's DNA
transplanted into his arm, which extended the lifespan of each
Sharingan's Izanagi to a minute, allowing him to use the technique for
up to ten minutes in total, with breaks in between as he deemed
necessary. However, because Danzō is not an Uchiha, his chakra levels
drop substantially every time a new Sharingan is used to activate the
technique. Obito
also makes use of Hashirama's DNA but, in contrast to Danzō, he claims
to have gained control over Hashirama's DNA and as such, boasts the
completed form of Izanagi.
KOTOAMATSUKAMI:USERS(SHISUI,ITACHI,DANZO)
Kotoamatsukami is the ultimate genjutsu granted by Shisui Uchiha's Mangekyō Sharingan.
The technique itself allows the user to enter the opponent's mind and
manipulate them by giving them false experiences, making it seem as if
they were doing things of their own free will. It is regarded as a
genjutsu of the highest class, due to the victim being entirely unaware
that they are being manipulated.
As a testament to its power it was strong enough to even negate Kabuto Yakushi's control over the reincarnated Itachi Uchiha,
in spite of the former's authority being considered almost absolute.
After the technique is used, from those who acquired it unnaturally it
requires around a decade before it can be used again, but this period
can be drastically reduced through the possession of Hashirama Senju's cells, as observed by Danzō Shimura's use. However, despite the additional stamina granted by Hashirama's cells, it is asserted that this technique still can't be used multiple times in a single day.
Danzō gained access to this dōjutsu by taking and later implanting Shisui's Sharingan into his own right eye-socket while Shisui was still alive. Shisui entrusted his remaining Sharingan to Itachi Uchiha, who implanted it into the eye belonging to one of his crows. This crow was later forcibly stored inside Naruto Uzumaki
and rigged to emerge only in response to confronting Itachi's Mangekyō
Sharingan. Upon activation, Itachi rigged the eye itself so that the
genjutsu would give the order "protect Konoha" to whomever was affected by it. Itachi intended this to be used on his brother,
in the eventuality that he turned against the village and assumed that
he would have transplanted his eyes in order to obtain an Eternal
Mangekyō Sharingan by then. The technique was instead used on Itachi
himself, after being reincarnated and inadvertently using his Mangekyō
Sharingan when encountering Naruto during the Fourth Shinobi World War
TSUKUYOMI:USERS(ITACHI,SASUKE)
Tsukuyomi is noted to be one of the most powerful genjutsu in existence. It is unique to the Uchiha clan and only those who have awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan can perform it. It is said to represent the "Spiritual World and Darkness" (, Seishinkai to Yami), the antipode to Amaterasu — a ninjutsu of similar power.
Tsukuyomi requires eye contact to be performed, trapping the
target within an illusion completely under the user's control. Itachi's
prowess with the technique has allowed him to alter the perception of
time with ease within the genjutsu to make a few seconds seem like many
days as a means to torture the target. This results in the victim
suffering psychological trauma that incapacitates them for a
considerable period of time. After Itachi used it on Kakashi in Part I,
Kisame was surprised that Kakashi's mind was still intact. Only Tsunade has been shown capable of curing this psychological damage.
In the anime during Part I, Itachi's use of Tsukuyomi typically
featured a red moon casting a red light throughout the illusion with a
cloudy atmosphere, giving the background a blood-red appearance while
the victim within the illusion is in depicted in an inverted grey scale.
Such a powerful technique is not without its disadvantages
however. Due to the complexity of the illusion and the quickness with
which it is executed, an enormous amount of chakra is necessary and an
added amount of stress is placed on the left eye, leaving Itachi's
vision more blurred. Before using it on Kakashi in Part I, Itachi stated
that Tsukuyomi can only be broken by a Sharingan user that shares the
same blood as him; as demonstrated when Sasuke overcame Itachi's
Tsukuyomi in their battle.
Sasuke can also perform Tsukuyomi with his right eye, though his
illusion is considered inferior to Itachi's Tsukuyomi since it does not
alter the opponent's perception of time indicating he has yet to master
it.
The Eye of the Moon Plan involves becoming the Ten-Tails' jinchūriki and using its power to reflect their Mangekyō Sharingan on the moon, which allows them to cast an "Infinite Tsukuyomi" ( Mugen Tsukuyomi) throughout the entire world, effectively letting them conquer it.
